Hello hello! Here is my review of the Petitfee Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches. I received these as a birthday gift from one of my best friends, Clare. I've been having my eyes on these for a while now and so I was so excited to try them out when I saw that she gave them to me!

The patches come in a very sturdy plastic casing. The top screws off and inside are 60 patches (good for 30 uses) soaked in the serum. The white and gold packaging is so elegant and gorgeous. The patches also come with a handy little plastic spatula so that you can hygienically take out the patches for each use.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but the black patches have little specs of gold in them! The texture is jelly/gelatin-like. The serum that the patches are soaked in has a very clean and almost floral fragrance. While there is a fragrance, it isn't too strong or overbearing.

The first time I tried the patches was actually not that nice of an experience. After about a minute of having the patches on, it started to sting. While it was uncomfortable, my skin did not get irritated but from what I read in other reviews, it seems that this is a regular occurrence. I didn't get a rash and didn't break out from using the patches.

I use the patches about every other day or whenever I have the time (starting your full day of classes with 8AM physics labs doesn't give you much time to get ready in the morning) and have been using them for about a month now. I like to put them on after I've cleansed my face and applied toner and while catching up on instagram, snapchat, and tumblr. They unfortunately don't help with dark circles... :( But they do help with moisturizing and de-puffing! The patches have a nice cooling effect that helps to de-puff any eye bags you have. It doesn't help a whole bunch, but I've heard that some people place the patches in the fridge and that adds a nice cooling effect to further de-puff them eye bags. I have yet to actually try that out, partially because it's already so cold in the mornings now... These patches also do a great job with moisturizing. I've been getting dry patches near my eyes so the patches really help with that. I like to leave the patches on for about 20 minutes. Afterwards, there is a noticeable difference in the skin texture and puffiness of my under-eyes -- however, it's not a dramatic difference (so don't expect too much!).

Overall, I think these are a great little extra to your morning routine. They sell for $15 on Memebox however I believe you can get them much cheaper if you look around online (ebay!!!). While these are great patches to have, I don't plan on purchasing more patches when I'm done with this tub. I don't think these are a staple to any morning/skincare routine, but it's nice to have if you're up for spending the extra money.

TRAVEL | Apple Hill

This past weekend, Tina and I, along with a few of our friends, went on our annual Veteran's Day trip to Apple Hill! Apple Hill is a community of farms, ranches, shops, and wineries located in the Sierra Foothills. We stopped by a couple orchards to go apple picking, enjoyed the scenery and, of course, ate some yummy food! Taking a small, mid-week day trip is always a great de-stresser, especially with midterm session still in full swing for us.

FOODIE | Boiling Avenue

A Taiwanese Hot Pot restaurant finally opened up in Sacramento! I've never been to one before so I decided to go with my friend to try it before I had to go back to Davis. When driving to the location, my friend and I actually had a hard time trying to find it, but we eventually found it. It is right next to a La Bou but the sign was partially covered by the trees surrounding it. As we walked inside, I noticed how nice the ambiance of it was as well as the theme of the whole restaurant as a whole.

To my surprise, my friend and I were seated right away. I was prepared for at least a 20-30 minute wait since we went around dinner time and many reviewers said they had to wait at least 30 minutes on a friday night. The waitresses were very kind and explained the menu to us. They had self serve lemon-lime water on the side too which was nice.

Many reviews suggested getting their milk teas so we each got one. I got the Matcha Milk Tea [left] and my friend got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea [right] without tapioca pearls. They were both delicious and had so much flavor to them. I definitely recommend them to anyone who goes.

Soon after our drinks came, the hot pots came out! I ordered #2 Korean Kimchi and my friend ordered #1 House Special. There is an option for the spiciness level [mild, medium, hot] and a list of add ons (which we didn't do because it would've costed us extra).

I would say it was a pretty decent experience because it tasted pretty decent since the taste of mine was overpowered by the kimchi and the flame for my pot wasn't boiling my food as quickly as my friend's. In the end, my food did cook (but at a slow pace) and I was filled up after eating majority of it.

To anyone in the Arden Sacramento area, they should definitely check out Boiling Point at least once. The price is around $14 for the pot alone and $3-4 for the drinks which is pretty good. It was a pleasant experience and I might end up going again when I go back to Sacramento.
